Bonnie Hancock, Executive Director of the ERM Initiative at NC State University interviews Laurie Brooks, member of the Board of Directors and chair of the board’s Risk Committee at Provident Financial Services in New Jersey to obtain a director’s perspective on the value ERM provides to board members. Laurie describes the board’s role in risk oversight, how risk information is used by the board and how she evaluates management’s ERM process. Finally, she offers her advice to other directors about the importance of ERM.
