Bruce Branson, Associate Director of the ERM Initiative at NC State University interviews Jennifer MacKethan at Cisco Capital, on advanced risk scoring techniques that Cisco Capital employs in their risk assessment exercises. Jennifer stresses that it is very important to ensure that participants in a risk assessment task have multiple ways to interpret risk impact and likelihood beyond traditional financial measures. Ultimately however, it is critical that a direct link to financial impact is established. Jennifer also discusses how Cisco Capital has developed an effective way to associate the effect of mitigations both in place and planned in guiding decision-making on how to best respond to residual risks that remain after treatment.
