Bonnie Hancock, Executive Director of the ERM Initiative at NC State University interviews Fred Stuckel, Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management and Audit at Express Scripts about how his organization identifies and evaluates emerging risks. Fred starts by defining what he means by an “emerging” risk and then goes on to describe how his organization identifies emerging risks and how he engages business leaders across the organization in assessing the potential impacts of those risks. He then goes on to describe the “playbooks” or set of plans that are in place to respond to risks and how his organization monitors emerging risks on an ongoing basis. Fred also offers advice on pitfalls to avoid when you are identifying emerging risks.
