In the 2018 Protiviti/NC State ERM Initiative Executive Perspectives of Top Risks for 2018 survey report, C-suite executives and boards of directors rated the risk statement “Our organization’s succession challenges and ability to attract and retain top talent may limit our ability to achieve operational targets” as one of the top 10 risks facing their organizations for 2018 (ranked #6 overall).
Several factors indicate that the concern for maintaining talent extends well beyond the C-Suite. The population is aging and individuals are living longer. Some organizations face a potential large drain in talent in the next 5 to 10 years as relatively large cohorts of older workers choose to exit the labor force.
Faculty in NC State University’s Poole College of Management are engaged in a national study to learn more about the impact of an aging workforce on firms. We are interested in learning how firms perceive this talent risk and what steps if any, they are taking to manage the risk.
We need your help in completing a short survey consisting of nine questions. Your responses are anonymous and our analysis will be based on aggregate data. The survey should take 5-10 minutes to complete.
