Don Pagach, Director of Research for the ERM Initiative at NC State University interviews Sam Coster, Director – ERM Advisory for Hilton Worldwide about the role ERM plays at Hilton in advising different business units. Sam discusses why ERM at Hilton Worldwide is named as “Enterprise Risk Advisory (ERA)” and what motivated Hilton to describe the risk function in this way. She speaks to how the “advisory” approach works and the consultative process approach to helping advise business functions. In addition, Sam discusses the role that culture at Hilton Worldwide that helps it embrace this “ERA” approach to risk oversight.
