ERM and ORSA in the Insurance Industry
Bruce Branson, Associate Director of the ERM Initiative at NC State University, interviews Jeff Lovern, Chief Risk Officer and Head of Enterprise Risk Management at American Fidelity Corporation. Jeff discusses the regulatory guidance in the insurance industry that requires an “Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA)” report to be filed annually with state regulatory bodies. Jeff shares the challenges and benefits he has observed in developing an approach to comply with ORSA disclosure requirements that can coexist with and contribute to the ERM function. Jeff also briefly discusses his beliefs in how ORSA will likely evolve in the coming years.
