ERM leaders sometimes struggle to engage management across the organization in risk related tasks and discussions. Often business leaders are reluctant to invest in risk conversations given they fail to see the value of ERM in the context of how they already lead their functions. Our panel of ERM leaders will focus on techniques and strategies they have found helpful in strengthening relationships and engagement with other executives in the organization.

Lora Jex, HomeTrust Bank
“Resilience During Disaster”

HomeTrust Bank is headquartered in the mountain city of Asheville, NC.  In September 2024, Hurricane Helene imposed massive and sudden devastation throughout western North Carolina, cutting off power and water supplies, and destroying highways and roads in a widespread region. Despite the huge disruption, HomeTrust Bank was able to restore core operations quickly to resume services to its customers.  Lora is going to share insights from that experience to highlight key attributes of a successful business continuity plan and its implementation.
